“Why are you so quiet?”
I don’t like this question because it puts pressure on someone to talk when they might simply be comfortable listening or thinking. Not everyone expresses themselves by speaking a lot, and being quiet doesn’t mean someone is unhappy, unfriendly, or uninterested. Sometimes people are just observing the conversation, processing ideas, or enjoying the moment without feeling the need to say something.
When someone asks this, it can make the quiet person feel singled out or judged for their personality. Everyone communicates differently—some people talk more, and some people prefer to listen first.
So instead of asking why someone is quiet, it’s usually better to just include them naturally in the conversation or ask about something they’re interested in. That way, they can speak when they actually feel comfortable doing so
